It was a chilly morning when our company organized an overnight team-building event at Sagana in Kirinyaga County. The year was 2000, and I was just starting my career, full of energy and idealism.

Our employer had planned a series of activities, including kayaking, rock climbing, and bungee jumping, to encourage mingling and team bonding. However, I was not exactly thrilled about the idea of bungee jumping, especially after consuming a few adult beverages.

As it turned out, I was not the only one who felt apprehensive. Many of my colleagues were also hesitant to participate in the more adventurous activities, and we ended up spending most of our time dancing to music and taking photos by the river.

Despite the initial reservations, the event turned out to be a huge success. We formed lasting connections, and a few months later, we noticed a significant change in our work dynamics. People were working late, exchanging private emails, and even walking home together.

Looking back, I realize that the team-building event was more than just a fun outing. It was an opportunity for us to bond, learn, and grow as individuals and as a team.
