Published on May 6, 2020, a task force led by Bishop Peter Nakola has recommended converting a 30-acre piece of land in Narok into public land to curb bloody inter-clan conflicts.

The land, which has been the source of perennial clashes between the Siria and Uasin Gishu clans of the Maasai community, should be used for public utilities, the task force suggested.

According to the report, the clashes between the two clans have been ongoing since 1976, when the Nkararo/Enoosoen Land Adjudication Section was declared.

The task force also recommended that 1,200 title deeds be given to one clan which had not been issued with the land documents since the Nkararo Adjudication Section was declared about 20 years ago.

Bishop Nakola, the chairman of the task force, said that the clashes were caused by a misunderstanding of the land boundary, which has six different boundaries.

The task force also accused politicians of using the conflict between the two clans to obtain political mileage, thus sabotaging government's efforts to resolve the long-running conflict.
