Published on May 5, 2020, Kenya has confirmed 45 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections to 535.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced the new cases during a press briefing on the COVID-19 situation in the country on Tuesday.
The new infections were identified from 1,077 samples tested within the last 24 hours, according to Kagwe.
On Monday, Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Mercy Mwangangi announced 25 new cases of the deadly coronavirus disease, which were all from local transmissions.
Dr. Mwangangi also announced 6 recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 173, as of May 4, 2020.
Nairobi and Mombasa remain the most affected counties in terms of COVID-19 infections.
