On May 5, 2020, a devastating incident occurred in Siwot area, Kuresoi South, where a 17-year-old class 7 pupil lost his life after slipping and falling into a deep hole at a local quarry.
The deceased, a pupil at Siwot Primary School, was on his way to Keringet clinic when the tragic accident occurred. According to Area Chief Nicholas Kering, the reason behind the pupil's visit to the clinic remains unclear.
Rescuers managed to retrieve the pupil, but unfortunately, he was pronounced dead on arrival at Keringet Clinic. The body was later moved to Olenguruone Sub-county mortuary awaiting postmortem.
Area Chief Kering has urged parents to be vigilant about their children's whereabouts, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to engage them in safe activities to prevent such incidents in the future.
