On-demand transportation platform Bolt has introduced a new service in Nairobi, catering to the business delivery needs of merchants and vendors. The service, Bolt Business Delivery, was launched on May 5, 2020.
According to Ola Akinnusi, Country Manager of Kenya, Bolt Business Delivery aims to leverage Bolt's experience in operations and logistics to provide a convenient and affordable delivery service to businesses. The service connects businesses with couriers on the Bolt platform, allowing vendors to place orders online and deliver products to their customers within hours or the same day.
Businesses can register for the service via an online form or contact Bolt directly. Once registered, vendors can upload deliveries in batches via CSV or enter them manually using a simple form. Orders can be set to be picked up immediately or scheduled to be collected within 48 hours.
The service offers real-time tracking features, ensuring that both vendors and customers are updated on the progress of the order. Vendors will receive a live status update on the web app, while customers will receive an SMS notification with the estimated time of arrival and the courier's contact details.
As a precautionary measure during the COVID-19 outbreak, vendors will be required to specify a location in the app where the courier can leave the package, ensuring social distancing.
