On April 13, 2020, a woman named Elizabeth Wangechi was found dead in Mathare, her hands tied with a manila rope to her neck.
Almost two months later, on May 5, 2020, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested a woman named Terry Mukami Kinoti, alias Njeri, in connection with Wangechi's murder.
According to Police Constable Ibrahim Mohamed, Kinoti was mentioned alongside others in connection with the murder, and was traced to the Kamukunji area in Nairobi's CBD.
At a hearing at the Makadara Law Courts, Mohamed sought custodial orders to hold Kinoti for 14 days pending investigations.
Investigations are ongoing, with detectives seeking to trace other suspects, record statements from potential witnesses, and take Kinoti for a mental status evaluation at the Mathari Teaching and Referral Hospital.
