On May 5, 2020, Sendy, a logistics platform, launched Sendy Go, a home delivery solution aimed at supporting local traders during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sendy Go enables shoppers to access a wide variety of household supplies from local traders and also allows them to support families in need by matching every order made on the platform with a donation.

According to Meshack Alloys, Sendy's Founder and CEO, the platform's objective is to feed 5,000 families across Nairobi for the next few months. The family basket consists of maize meal, rice, beans, cooking oil, and soap, enough to last a household of six for one week.

Sendy Go has partnered with local markets and stores, including Kenyatta Market, City Market, Hardy Fresh, Sweetunda, Goodlife Pharmacy, Galana Oil, and Sandstorm, to provide groceries and household essentials, pharmaceuticals, and personal care products, cooking gas, and protective face masks.

The free-to-download app has been available for Android and iOS users across Nairobi, Nakuru, Kisumu, Eldoret, and Mombasa since April 30, 2020.

Sendy is built to facilitate easy trading for businesses and currently offers delivery for over 5,000 businesses, including Unilever, Jumia, Copia, DHL, Maersk, and Safaricom.
