President Uhuru Mourns Karen Hospital Founder's Mother

On May 3, 2020, Mama Loise Wamaitha Kibuka, the 98-year-old mother of Dr Dan Gikonyo, founder of Karen Hospital, passed away at the hospital in Nairobi. President Uhuru Kenyatta has since condoled with the family, describing Mama Wamaitha as a woman of faith and a source of inspiration to her community.

According to the president, Mama Wamaitha was a highly respected community leader and wise counsellor who encouraged and inspired many. She was a loving woman of God who cherished education as the foundation of success, evident in her children's achievements.

President Kenyatta also acknowledged Mama Wamaitha's service to the country as a leader of Maendeleo ya Wanawake in Nyeri before Kenya's independence. He further recognized her role in the growth of the Presbyterian Church, both as an elder and a prominent member of the Women's Guild.

The Head of State assured Mama Wamaitha's family of his support and prayed for God to grant them solace and fortitude during this difficult period of mourning their beloved matriarch.
