On 4 May 2020, a plane carrying aid supplies crashed in Somalia, resulting in the deaths of all six people on board, according to Somali Transport Minister Mohamed Salad.

The incident occurred on Monday, with the minister declining to speculate on the cause of the crash. However, a former defence minister, Abdirashid Abdullahi Mohamed, claimed that a witness at the airfield reported seeing the plane appear to have been shot down.

Kenya has called on Somalia and international agencies to investigate the reasons behind the aircraft's downing in an area controlled by Ethiopian troops. Minister Salad stated that he had sent a unit to investigate the incident, which was expected to arrive on Tuesday, and welcomed international assistance in the matter.

Abdirashid Abdullahi Mohamed provided photographs showing the plane in flames, with pieces of it scattered over a small area, and its tail intact. However, Reuters was unable to verify the images or confirm the names on the passenger list provided by the former minister.
