Sendy, a Kenyan logistics platform, has introduced a home delivery solution to aid local traders during the Covid-19 pandemic. Dubbed Sendy Go, the platform connects shoppers with a wide range of household supplies from local traders, while also enabling them to support families in need.

On May 4th, Sendy's Founder and CEO, Meshack Alloys, emphasized the company's goal of helping shoppers buy items and receive deliveries at their doorsteps, minimizing their movement during this challenging time.

Food Support

Sendy Go aims to feed 5,000 families across Nairobi for the next few months by matching every order made through the app with a donation to a family in need. Each family basket consists of essential items such as maize meal, rice, beans, cooking oil, and soap, sufficient for a household of six for one week.

According to Meshack Alloys, Sendy's objective is to continuously innovate and make a positive impact on those around them. 'As a Kenyan company, we cannot sit back when some are grappling with disruption of their sources of income.'

Sendy Go's donations will support families living in informal settlements through a partnership with Sokowatch, a retail e-commerce start-up that has mapped shops across these areas. The platform will run on Sendy's extensive logistics network and has partnered with local markets and stores, including Kenyatta Market, City Market, and Goodlife Pharmacy.

Sendy Go is available as a free-to-download app for Android and iOS users across Nairobi, Nakuru, Kisumu, Eldoret, and Mombasa, having been launched on April 30th, 2020.

Sendy, built to facilitate easy trading, currently offers delivery services for over 5,000 businesses, including Unilever, Jumia, and Safaricom. The platform enables businesses to send raw materials to their production facilities and finished goods to their end-customers using various modes of transportation.

Due to the current crisis, Sendy has implemented measures to ensure safe and hygienic deliveries, including issuing hygiene kits to each driver-partner and sanitizing every package upon pick-up.

Sendy Go aims to provide convenience, safety, and choice to consumers while enabling them to support families in need and boost livelihoods for local traders.
