Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital is facing a Sh6 million bill from a cleaning services company, Gardens and Weddings Centre Limited. The company claims the hospital owes it Sh6,265,546 for services rendered between 2017 and 2019.

The dispute began when the hospital terminated the contract with the cleaning firm in August 2019, without notice. The firm claims the hospital has continually used their equipment and prohibited their employees from accessing them.

Documents obtained by Nyakundi Report reveal that the firm wrote three letters to the hospital's Medical Superintendent, Joseph Mburu, seeking payment. In one of the letters, the firm sought over Sh4.7 million for a contract signed in August 2017.

Dr. Mburu denied the claims, stating that the contract was clear and they have executed it accordingly. He, however, declined to say whether the payment was made or not.

The firm has now taken their case to the Commission on Administration of Justice, seeking their intervention on what they term unlawful termination of their contract.

On March 17, 2020, the firm wrote to the Commission, stating that the hospital procured services from another provider after terminating their contract. The firm is seeking Sh6 million in damages.
