On May 4, 2020, a Kenyan aircraft was tragically brought down by a rocket-propelled grenade in Bardale town, Somalia, while attempting to land.
The Embraer 120 plane, registered as 5Y AXO and owned by African Express, was carrying six crew members at the time of the incident.
According to reports, the plane was hit by the RPG as it touched down in the town, which is controlled by Ethiopian forces.
Investigations are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash, but it is believed that the Ethiopian Forces may not have had prior knowledge of the plane's intended landing.
The plane was reportedly carrying a cargo of miraa to the town.
African Express, the owner of the plane, is a Kenyan aviation company founded by Captain Musa Hassan Bulhan, a career pilot and entrepreneur.
