AFC Leopards Chairman Dan Shikanda has expressed his intention to appeal to the Sport Dispute Tribunal if Gor Mahia is declared the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champion this season.

Shikanda's statement comes after KPL Chief Executive Officer Jack Oguda announced the indefinite suspension of the league due to the coronavirus pandemic, with 10 games remaining to the end of the season.

"I will take a case to the Sport Dispute Tribunals if Gor Mahia are handed the trophy in any case the league doesn’t resume. This is not a tournament but a league and if it is not completed then it should be declared null and void," said Shikanda.

Shikanda also criticized Football Kenya Federation President Nick Mwendwa for seeking to endear himself to K’Ogalo fans by using unpopular FKF laws to push for Gor Mahia to be handed a fourth straight KPL title.

He claimed that more than half of the KPL clubs were unaware of the laws being quoted by Mwendwa, and that he would not accept the FKF President to pressurize KPL into declaring Gor Mahia champions and unfairly relegating other teams.
