On April 25, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered a 21-day extension of a containment order in place in Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kilifi to combat the spread of coronavirus in Kenya.
As part of the measures, the National Security Council also extended a dusk-to-dawn curfew for an additional 21 days.
According to the President, the containment order and curfew will be extended for 21 days, with security services upscaling their response at border points.
He warned that if the worrying trend of high cases in counties such as Mandera, Kilifi, Kwale, and Mombasa does not reverse, more stringent measures will be taken in consultation with respective county governments.
During his address, President Kenyatta announced 7 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 343, with 14 deaths and 98 recoveries.
