Siaya County Governor Cornel Rasanga has sent his Finance Executive, Charles Mungla, on a one-month compulsory leave amidst infighting within the county's top brass. The move, which was announced on April 24, 2020, is part of a minor reshuffle amongst the county's top officials.

According to sources, Mungla had been at odds with County Secretary Joseph Ogutu over a number of issues, including a proposed payment to a firm associated with Ogutu's kin. Mungla had questioned the payment, which led to a rift between the two officials.

Others claim that the infighting is over budget money allocated to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, which has brought in millions of shillings as a windfall.

As part of the reshuffle, Finance Chief Officer Hezbon Mariwa has been redeployed to the Trade and Industrialisation Department, while Dennis Nyonje, the Director of Finance, will take over the docket of the Chief Officer, Finance in an acting capacity.
