On April 23, 2020, Nairobi's opposition Members of County Assembly (MCAs) expressed outrage over Governor Mike Sonko's decision to terminate transfer of deeds, a move they claim is a threat to land ownership and security.

The MCAs, who represent the opposition in the Nairobi County Assembly, accused Sonko of using the termination as a tool to intimidate and coerce property owners into supporting his administration.

According to the MCAs, the termination of transfer of deeds is a clear violation of the rights of property owners and a move that undermines the rule of law.

The opposition MCAs have called on Sonko to reverse his decision and respect the rights of property owners in Nairobi.
