On April 21, 2020, Italy's 20 Serie A teams put aside their differences and agreed to complete the 2019-20 season, which has been suspended since March 9, 2020, due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Just a few weeks ago, several clubs, including Sampdoria and Torino, had opposed continuing the season, while Brescia preferred to forfeit matches rather than take to the field.
However, in a statement released on April 21, 2020, Serie A announced that all 20 clubs had unanimously agreed to try and finish the season, pending government approval.
"The Serie A general assembly met this morning and confirmed, with a unanimous vote of all 20 clubs connected by video conference, the intention to complete the 2019-2020 football season, if the government allows it to take place," the statement read.
