On April 23, 2020, the County Government of Mombasa, in collaboration with the Technical University of Mombasa, launched a second Covid-19 treatment centre to supplement the existing 160-capacity centre at the Coast General Provincial Hospital.

The new centre, located in the university's five-floor engineering department, can accommodate up to 500 mild to moderate Covid-19 cases.

According to Governor Joho, the county has allocated Ksh 200 million for the Emergency Household Relief and Nutrition Support Project as part of the Mombasa Economic Stimulus Programme.

"We have an ambitious budget of Ksh 700 million to provide nutrition support for 227,404 vulnerable households," Joho said, appealing to the national government, bilateral and multilateral partners, and the private sector to assist in achieving this goal.

Since the launch of the relief programme, the county has collected over Ksh 16 million in donations, including food items, sanitizers, and other essential products.

Additionally, Governor Joho has unveiled 18 ventilators donated by Sheikh Ahmed Mohammed Al-Falas, the leader of Dubai, to support the county's Covid-19 response.

At the Likoni Ferry Crossing Channel, the county has implemented auto sprayers to enhance handwashing facilities, in partnership with Mombasa Cement, Kenya Red Cross, Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Technical University of Mombasa.
