On April 22, 2020, a group of seven individuals, including two police officers, were arrested for flouting curfew rules in Nyandarua county. The incident occurred at Maili Kumi trading center in Ndaragwa sub county, where the officers were found locked up in a bar with five others while on a drinking spree.

Nyandarua county commissioner Boaz Cherutich stated that the group was arrested and moved to Mairo Inya police station before being transferred to a quarantine center at Nyandarua High School. Cherutich emphasized that the individuals will be responsible for their own expenses during the 14-day quarantine period and will face charges in court upon completion.

Cherutich also noted that the group joins nine others who had been arrested at Mirangine over the weekend, and that no one will be spared in the fight against the spread of Covid-19. He expressed his disappointment that those mandated to enforce the law are the ones flouting it, stating, 'It is a shame that those mandated to enforce the law are the ones flouting it. We will not spare anyone despite their position in the society.'
