On April 23, 2020, a heated exchange between Ugandan TV presenter Joan Lule and reigning Miss Uganda Oliver Nakakande took place during a live show.
According to eyewitnesses, the presenter asked Miss Uganda, 'By the way, you lost, how did that make you feel?' - a question that the beauty queen did not find fitting.
Miss Uganda responded, 'I did not lose. Why would you say that. I didn’t lose. Nobody lost. I am the first ever top model that Uganda has ever had in Miss World. I am really offended.' She also pointed out that the presenter should not have asked such a question, citing her Diploma in Journalism.
However, the presenter refused to apologize, shouting at Miss Uganda and throwing her hands in gesture. The show was eventually cut short due to her unprofessional conduct.
Ugandans on Twitter have called for disciplinary action against the presenter, while Miss Uganda has expressed gratitude to her supporters on Instagram.
