On April 23, 2020, Kenya's automotive sector made a significant contribution to the fight against COVID-19 by developing ventilators. The initiative, led by the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM), aimed to address the shortage of medical equipment in the country.

Phyllis Wakiaga, the CEO of KAM, emphasized the importance of local collaboration in the production process. She stated, 'There will be a lot of local collaboration as some of the components will be sourced locally.'
