On the pitch, Constant Wakhura is a force to be reckoned with as the captain of Butali Warriors hockey club. However, off the pitch, he has a different passion - systems engineering.
With a Bachelor's Degree in Business Information Technology, Wakhura has been working as a systems engineer, specializing in enterprise-level server and network systems integration. He is also a certified Cisco Network Associate in routing and switching and a certified Siemon installer.
As the coronavirus pandemic has brought sports activities to a halt, Wakhura has found ways to balance his love for hockey with his work. He wakes up at 6am for a morning run, followed by work, and in the afternoon, he works out from home.
"We work from home because it's all about systems and software, but we try to help clients remotely within the capital city," Wakhura said.
Despite the challenges, Wakhura remains committed to his work and his passion for hockey. He urges all Kenyans to adhere to the Ministry of Health's directives to help control the spread of the virus.
Wakhura, who signed for Butali Warriors in 2016, is a national team player and hopes that the situation will be under control soon so that they can resume their daily routine.
