Government Officers Warned Against Misusing Privileges Amid COVID-19 Pandemic ¶
On April 21, 2020, Interior Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Hussein Dado visited the Busia One-Stop-Border Post to assess the country's preparedness in controlling the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the visit, Dado warned government officers against misusing their privileges and government resources. He noted that some officers continued to use government resources even when they were not on duty.
"The essential services you are offering do not mean you can abuse the privileges," Dado said.
He also advised Kenyans to use the time during the curfew and lockdown to bond with their families and help each other at home.
Transport CAS Chris Obure noted that infrastructural works at Malaba One-Stop-Border Post had not been completed, and the Ministry would fast-track the ongoing works to complete it by June 2020.
Health CAS Dr. Rashid Aman urged both County and National government officers to work together to contain the coronavirus pandemic.
"We have tried to bring in as much as we can through donations and distributed the same to counties," Dr. Aman said, adding that local industries were being encouraged to manufacture some of the required items.
The team also visited Malaba border, where they found a 30-kilometre traffic snarl-up along Malaba-Bungoma highway.
