On April 23, 2020, the academic community and family of the late Ken Walibora gathered for a low-key funeral service at his Makutano home in Cherang'any, Kenya.
The 47-minute service, which was in line with the Ministry of Health's regulations to reduce COVID-19 spread and infections, was attended by extended family members, neighbors, and scholars.
Despite the small gathering, the service was a poignant tribute to the life and legacy of the veteran journalist and renowned author.
Walibora's wife, Ann Chebet, and their two children, Sheila Zawadi and Katila Samba, who reside in the USA, were unable to attend the service.
Those who eulogized Walibora described him as 'a scholar of repute yet a man well aware of the limits of his knowledge. He lived and worked within the framework of this understanding.'
They also added, 'Humbled by the knowledge of possibilities latent in his human fallibility, he made every effort to exemplify the nobility of the human spirit.'
May Ken Walibora rest in eternal peace.
