As the country makes headway toward unity, cohesion, and inclusivity, a worrying trend has emerged: the resurgence of tribalism and division. At the forefront of this divisive agenda is Deputy President William Ruto, who has been accused of buying politicians and planting 'moles' to propagate his agenda.

One such alleged mole is Senator Ledama Olekina, who has made tribal utterances that have sparked widespread condemnation. In a recent interview on National TV, Senator Olekina declared that he is tribal, further fueling allegations that he is a Ruto operative within the Orange Democratic Movement.

Senator Olekina's actions are not new. In 2018, he made inflammatory utterances that were specifically meant to cause hatred between communities living in the Mau region. His recent comments on National TV have only served to reinforce these allegations.

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has condemned Senator Olekina's negative utterances, and it is high time that legal action is taken against the Narok Senator. The rules put in place against such leaders who would face legal action and be denied running for office in 2022 should be enforced.

It is imperative that Kenyans shun leaders who preach disharmony in the country. Senator Ledama's actions are a clear indication that he is a beneficiary of Ruto's plunder, and no one who speaks on behalf of the DP goes unrewarded.

As we move forward, it is crucial that we preach what will ensure the country's existence for generations to come. We must reject leaders who seek to divide us and instead promote unity, cohesion, and inclusivity.
