Published on April 23, 2020, Rivatex Company has stepped up its production of face masks to 50,000 daily, in response to the high demand caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The company's Managing Director, Thomas Kipkurgat, said the move was aimed at providing a solution to the public, which is in dire need of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) during this pandemic.
"We have stepped up our production aimed at providing a solution to the public, which is in dire need of PPEs during this pandemic," Kipkurgat said.
The company has also procured new machines to enhance production, with the Managing Director stating that the newly acquired gadgets will ensure the company makes 50,000 face masks up from the current 30,000 daily.
According to Kipkurgat, the company's employees have to work day and night to meet the high demand, with the company distributing the masks to its shops around the country.
The company has also embarked on mopping all cotton from farmers countrywide, with the recently approved BT cotton helping the company make quality products.
Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has urged the Industrialisation ministry to allocate more resources to the company to ensure daily output of masks is over 100,000.
"In North Rift region alone we require over 15 million masks and at the moment counties such as Homa Bay are sourcing their masks from Rivatex," Mandago said.
