On April 21, Tanzania had reported 284 cases of Covid-19, with 256 individuals in stable condition, seven in special care, 11 who had recovered, and 10 who had died from the virus.

Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa made the announcement during an inter-religious prayer meeting in Dar es Salaam, the commercial hub of Tanzania, to help combat the spread of the coronavirus.

According to Majaliwa, the city of Dar es Salaam and the island of Zanzibar were leading in the number of infected cases, prompting him to advise for more precautions to be taken.

Health Minister Ummy Mwalimu revealed that Dar es Salaam had recorded the highest number of infections at 10, followed by Zanzibar with nine cases, and Mwanza and Pwani with two cases each. Kagera, Manyara, and Morogoro had one case each.

As of the announcement, 2,815 people were on follow-up, said Majaliwa.
