Kenya has recorded seven new coronavirus cases, raising the total number of infections to 303, the health ministry announced on April 22, 2020.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the new cases arose after 707 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
"Having tested 707 samples, we have tested 7 persons who have tested positive for the disease, we don’t have any foreigners in those figures, this is not a government’s problem, it should be everyone’s concern," Kagwe said during a news conference.
Of the seven new cases, six are from Nairobi and one is from Mombasa. The patients are aged 21-61 years and none have a recent history of travel.
The government is targeting to test 250,000 people by the end of June and has deployed 25,000 testing kits in high-risk areas.
Kenya has also banned movement in and out of Mandera county, where eight people have tested positive for the virus, joining Nairobi, Mombasa, Kwale, and Kilifi under containment to avert the spread of coronavirus.
