On April 22, 2020, Kenya's Health ministry announced seven new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country's total number of infections to 303.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe stated that all the new cases were Kenyans, and that six of the new patients were in Mombasa and one in Nairobi.

According to Mr. Kagwe, six of the new patients were identified through targeted mass testing, while one was identified by surveillance teams.

Mr. Kagwe also announced that nine more patients had recovered and been discharged, raising the country's number of recoveries to 83.

Acting Health ministry director-general Dr. Patrick Amoth noted that of the 14 people who had succumbed to the virus since the first case was reported on March, only one was a foreigner.

As part of its measures to curb local transmissions, the government has restricted movement in and out of northeastern Mandera from April 22, 2020, at 7pm.

Kenya's Covid-19 cases are part of a global pandemic that has killed at least 178,658 people worldwide, with at least 2,574,994 infections reported.
