Kenya's COVID-19 Cases Rise to 296 After 15 More Test Positive

Kenya's COVID-19 cases have risen to 296 after 15 more people tested positive for the virus, according to the Health Ministry.

On April 21, 2020, Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Mercy Mwangangi announced the new cases, which included 7 in Mombasa County, 6 in Nairobi, and 2 in Mandera.

Of the new cases, 11 were Kenyans and 4 were foreign nationals, and they were among 545 people tested for the disease in the last 24 hours.

None of the new cases had a history of travel, and 6 were in quarantine, while 9 were found through surveillance.

Dr. Mwangangi also announced that 5 more people had been discharged from hospital after recovering, raising Kenya's total number of recoveries to 74.

The COVID-19 pandemic, which was first reported in Wuhan, China on December 31, 2019, has spread rapidly across the world, infecting at least 2,498,474 people and causing 171,332 deaths as of April 21, 2020.
