On April 1st, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta established the COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund to mobilize resources for an emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The fund's principal objective is to support the government's efforts in supplying medical facilities and equipment and supporting vulnerable communities.
As of now, the fund has raised a total of Kshs 1,288,068,950, with Kshs 917,768,950 in cash and Kshs 370,300,000 in material resources, including food and non-food items.
Chairperson Jane Karuku expressed gratitude for the support and goodwill received from Kenyans and encouraged more donations to the fund.
She reaffirmed that the donations will be utilized to support the government's efforts in the supply of medical facilities and equipment and support for vulnerable communities.
‘The Board would like to express its deepest gratitude for the support and goodwill that the fund continues to receive from Kenyans from all walks of life. We would like to encourage more Kenyans to donate to the fund as we all work together to overcome this challenge,' she said.
