Naivas, a prominent retail chain in Kenya, has expanded its footprint with the opening of a new food market in Kilimani, marking its 63rd store in the country.

The outlet, which occupies 10,000 square feet, is strategically located in one of the largest supermarkets in the upmarket residential area, catering to the middle and upper-class residents with readily disposable income.

According to Naivas Chief Commercial Officer Willy Kimani, at least 25 percent of the branch space is allocated to food items and an eatery, making it an attractive proposition for potential customers.

Notably, the new food market has created 110 new jobs, extending Naivas' expansion streak amidst the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.

Kimani noted that the decision to set up in Kilimani was informed by research that suggested a pent-up need for an affordable, reliable, and accessible source of food items within close walking distance.

"We carefully examined the data, found a suitable location with sufficient parking for motor vehicles and convenient access, and it was all systems go," Kimani explained.

The new food market is located close to the Yaya Center, neighbors a number of apartment blocks and hotels, and is a stone's throw from Chaka, Ring Road Kilimani, and Argwings Kodhek roads.
