Kenya's COVID-19 cases have increased to 296, with 15 new cases reported on April 21, 2020. The new cases bring the total number of people infected with the virus in the country to 296.

According to Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, the 15 new cases include 7 from Mombasa County, 6 from Nairobi, and 2 from Mandera. Dr. Mwangangi noted that 11 of the new cases are Kenyans, while 4 are foreign nationals, with 7 males and 8 females.

Dr. Mwangangi also highlighted that 9 of the new cases were picked up by the Ministry of Health surveillance team, while the remaining 6 were in quarantine centers. She emphasized that the increasing number of cases within communities is a clear indication that the infection is growing rapidly.

Dr. Mwangangi cautioned Kenyans, particularly the youth, to remain vigilant and observe all precautionary measures put in place by the government. She noted that the disease does not respect age or status, and that it is critical to contain it.

Meanwhile, the number of recoveries has increased to 74, with 5 more people discharged from hospital.
