On April 21, 2020, Kenya's Health Chief Administrative Secretary, Mercy Mwangangi, announced 15 new coronavirus cases, increasing the country's total to 296.

Of the new cases, 11 were Kenyans, while four were foreigners, with seven hailing from Mombasa County, six from Nairobi County, and two from Mandera County.

According to Mwangangi, seven of the cases were males, while eight were females, all aged between 19 and 75 years.

She noted that six of the cases were from quarantine centers, while nine were picked up by Ministry of Health surveillance teams.

On a positive note, Mwangangi announced that five patients had recovered from the virus and were discharged, bringing the total recoveries to 74.

Additionally, 2,851 contacts had been monitored, with 2,121 being discharged, and 730 contacts still being followed.

As of the briefing, 14,417 samples had been tested.

Mwangangi praised the Kenya Air Force for flying military choppers in solidarity with medical workers, displaying banners with messages such as 'God bless medics' and 'Stay at home'.

However, she expressed concern over Kenyans who doubted the existence of the virus, urging them to take the pandemic seriously.
