Published on April 21, 2020, Mediamax has announced plans to slash its employees' salaries by between 20% and 50% before taxes and other deductions, effective on their April salaries.

The company cited the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as the reason for the salary cuts, which has resulted in a decline in advertising revenue.

Mediamax has already taken steps to reduce operating costs, including sending a section of its employees on compulsory leave and declaring over 150 staff redundant in October 2019.

The company maintains that it will review the situation periodically based on revenue, cash flows, and the status of the business.

Mediamax is the holding company of several media outlets, including People Daily Newspaper, Kameme and K24 TV stations, and Emoo FM, Milele FM, Kameme FM, Msenangu, Mayian FM, and Meru FM radio stations.
