On Monday, residents of Kiplombe area in the outskirts of Eldoret town woke up to a shocking discovery: a headless body of a man dumped in a ditch along the Eldoret town – Kiplombe – Soy road.
The body was found by boda boda operators in the early hours of the day, and area residents suspected the deceased was killed elsewhere and the body dumped at the scene.
They suspected the man may have been killed in a mob injustice attack on suspicion of being a member of a terror gang that has been terrorizing residents during curfew hours.
On Sunday, 37-year-old Samuel Wachira was stabbed several times on the neck as he entered his home in Mwanzo by unknown assailants.
Wachira was pronounced dead on arrival at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, where he was rushed for treatment following the attack.
According to his wife, Rose Wachira, the deceased was attacked as he entered his gate by people who were not identified.
These incidents are part of a growing trend of insecurity in Eldoret, with residents complaining of increasing cases of insecurity since the curfew was announced by the government.
However, the county commissioner, Abdirisack Jaldesa, has assured residents that police patrols will be intensified to deal with the criminals.
