State Unveils Isolation Unit for Medics

On Monday, the Kenyan Health ministry took a significant step in protecting its medical professionals from contracting Covid-19. The ministry launched a 100-bed isolation centre at the Kenyatta National Hospital, providing free treatment to health workers who contract the virus while treating patients.

The facility, funded by the Rockefeller Foundation and Amref, was launched on a day when one of the two doctors who contracted the virus recovered, bringing the tally of those who have recovered to 69. Health Secretary Mutahi Kagwe emphasized the importance of protecting the country's medical professionals, who are on the frontlines of the fight against Covid-19.
