On April 20, 2020, a group of 14 individuals, including 12 men and 2 women, were arrested in Nyandarua Central Sub County for violating the curfew order.
According to County Commissioner Boaz Cherutich, the group was rounded up from various places across the sub-county while drinking past 7 pm.
Cherutich expressed regret that residents had found ways to circumvent the order, stating that the group's actions compromised efforts to combat the spread of COVID-19.
"The county emergency response committee has directed that the individuals who were arrested last evening at 7.15 pm at Paradise Bar in Kihoto area in Mirangine sub-county be placed on quarantine for 14 days beginning today," Cherutich said.
He added that the quarantine was intended to serve as an example to others flouting the government directive and to control crowding of people and stamp out illegal sale and drinking of beer by notorious individuals with impunity.
