Kenya Covid-19 Cases Rise to 281

On April 20, 2020, Kenya's Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced that the number of people who have tested positive for the coronavirus (Covid-19) had risen to 281, following the confirmation of 11 more cases.

The new cases consisted of five females and six males, all aged between 11 and 80 years.

According to Kagwe, seven of the new cases were reported in Mombasa, while four were reported in Nairobi.

Additionally, Kagwe announced that two more patients, including a doctor, had recovered, bringing the number of recoveries to 69.

The number of deaths remained at 14.

Furthermore, Kagwe stated that 4,759 complete personal protection equipment (PPE) kits and 237,047 assorted components, including gowns, rubber boots, and shoe covers, had been distributed for use by health workers.

He also announced that the capacity for Covid-19 testing would be expanded to cover at least one laboratory in every county.

Currently, 33 quarantine centres holding 483 individuals are active, and 455 other people have been quarantined for contravening curfew rules.
