On April 20, 2020, Naivas Supermarket marked a significant milestone in its retail journey by opening its 64th store in Kilimani, Nairobi.

The new outlet, located along Tigoni Road, opposite Yaya Centre, is the third branch to be opened this year, following Kamakis on the Eastern Bypass and Mountain View along Waiyaki Way.

Naivas' expansion drive is part of its strategy to strengthen its hold as a top retailer in the country, following the sale of a 30 percent stake to France-based private equity fund Amethis Finance for Sh1.5 billion.

According to Willy Kimani, Naivas' chief commercial officer, the new store is ready to serve customers at Kilimani Mall, offering a variety of fresh produce in addition to ordinary shopping that customers will require on the go.

However, the store will not stock electronics and alcohol.

Naivas has diversified its offerings to include alcohol sales for the first time since its inception three decades ago, with alcohol kiosks available within its newly opened food market stores.

The supermarket chain also plans to open a branch in Imara Daima in Nairobi in the coming months.
