Kenya has reported 262 cases of Covid-19 and 22 deaths, with numbers continuing to rise daily.

Despite the government's efforts to contain the virus, many Kenyans have been defying Covid-19 directives, including a 7pm curfew and social distancing measures.

Police have arrested 20 people in Nairobi for violating the curfew, while others have been caught attempting to bypass roadblocks by using empty caskets as decoys.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe warned that the number of deaths in the country could reach as high as 28,000 if citizens do not exhibit discipline.

“This person has now taken the disease to Homa Bay where we have now tested the first possible case in Homa Bay,” Kagwe said during a daily briefing at Afya house in Nairobi.

As the situation continues to unfold, authorities have advised Kenyans to heed Health Ministry guidelines and take the threat of Covid-19 seriously.
