On April 18, 2020, a billboard collapse at Riverside Drive along Waiyaki Way in Nairobi caused significant traffic congestion for Westlands-bound motorists.
Heavy rains in the area led to the billboard's partial blockage of the road, forcing drivers to seek alternative routes to avoid the 7pm curfew deadline.
Motorists and pedestrians reported the incident, with some attributing the collapse to the intense rainfall.
Residents of Kangemi, including James Gori and Gilbert Gicheru, witnessed the incident and shared their accounts with Nairobi News.
According to Gori, the billboard partially blocked the road leading to Kangemi, while Gicheru suggested that the heavy rains might have caused the collapse.
