On February 25, 2020, Narok Senator Ledama Olekina was released from police custody after being interrogated at Kilimani Police Station in Nairobi.
The senator had been arrested earlier that day over allegations of incitement, which he made during a Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) rally.
While addressing the press after his release, Olekina accused Deputy President William Ruto of being behind his arrest, calling it a witch-hunt.
“The DP has a lot to prove on national cohesion. Ruto why the hell are you so angry? Whether it is the Mau issue, you are angry, whether it is Arror and Kimwarer dam, you are angry, BBI you are angry,” charged the Senator.
Olekina denied that the Deputy President had any authority to order his arrest, and vowed not to be intimidated by the incident.
