January 15, 2020, marked one year since the devastating Dusit attack in Westlands, Nairobi, which left 22 people dead and many more injured.
Brian Kuira, a survivor of the attack, took to social media to express his gratitude for having made it out alive.
"Can't believe it's been a year. Some didn't make it out of Dusit, but I'm grateful I'm one of those that made it out. Never take for granted the gift of life, always give thanks," Kuira wrote on his account.
Other Kenyans joined in mourning the souls of those who died during the attack, including Cobra Jakababa, who was remembered by his friends and family.
As the country reflects on the one-year anniversary of the attack, many are left wondering what the government has done to prevent similar terror attacks in the future.
