Edinson Cavani, the 32-year-old Uruguayan striker, has been left out of Paris Saint-Germain's (PSG) squad to face Monaco in Ligue 1 on January 16, 2020. The move has sparked speculation about his future at the French club, with several top European teams reportedly interested in signing him.

According to L'Equipe, PSG are determined to keep hold of Cavani until the summer, despite being aware of strong interest from their European rivals. The French giants are reluctant to part ways with him in the January transfer window, but Cavani's contract is set to expire in the summer.

Manchester United and Chelsea are among the teams exploring the possibility of signing Cavani from PSG. Atletico Madrid, however, appear to be in pole position to sign the striker, having already tabled a pre-contract agreement. Cavani is keen to join up with Diego Simeone in the Spanish capital, but the deal remains unsigned at this stage.

Manchester United, who have made initial contact with Cavani's representatives, will make an offer if they believe Champions League football is a realistic goal for next season. The Premier League duo remain in the hunt and have made no secret of their desire to add a forward in January, having allowed Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to leave in the summer.
