January 14, 2020, marked a significant day for Idriss Saidi Lutta, a Form 1 student at Maranda High School, as he received a surprise school fees contribution from the Atheists in Kenya Society.

Idriss's mother, Lilian Ayabei, a vegetable vendor, had struggled to raise the Sh 53,000 fees, but her efforts were in vain. However, the Atheists in Kenya Society came to her aid, paying the full school fees and even sending money for Idriss's first term shopping.

As reported by Standard Digital, Lilian expressed her gratitude, saying, 'I am grateful someone has offered to help. I was worried my son's education was coming to an end because I could not afford to pay school fees but now I am grateful to God.'

Despite the Atheists in Kenya Society's non-belief in a supreme being, Lilian appreciated their help, saying, 'As long as they are not devil worshippers, we are grateful they have offered to help us and we accept. The intent is all that matters.'

Idriss, who scored 401 out of 500 marks in the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams, is now expected to report to Maranda High School after completing his shopping.
