On January 15, 2020, Amazon announced plans to invest $1 billion in India to digitize small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with a long-term goal of exporting $10 billion worth of Indian goods by 2025.

According to Amazon's CEO, Jeff Bezos, the initiative aims to create $10 billion in India exports by 2025, bringing millions more people into the country's future prosperity and showcasing India's rich culture to the world.

However, Indian business owners have accused Amazon of unfair practices, claiming that the company's discounted products and favoritism towards select big sellers are driving smaller businesses out of business.

Amazon, an American multinational technology company, operates in e-commerce, cloud computing, digital streaming, and artificial intelligence, and is considered one of the Big Four tech companies, alongside Google, Apple, and Facebook.
