On January 14, 2020, a shocking incident unfolded in Uganda, leaving an Imam stunned and heartbroken.

Two weeks prior, the Imam, Mr. Mohammed Mutumba, had exchanged vows and signed a marriage contract with his 'bride' in a nikah ceremony, a legal contract in Islam.

However, the couple allegedly never consummated the marriage, as the 'bride' claimed she was menstruating.

But what the Imam didn't know was that his 'wife' was actually a man, who had been deceiving him all along.

According to reports, the 'wife' had been wearing Islamic clothing for women and had even fooled the Imam's aunt, who had given her a go-ahead for the marriage.

It wasn't until the 'wife' was arrested by police for stealing a television set and clothes from their neighbours that the truth came to light.

During the arrest, a female police officer searched the suspect and discovered that he had male genitals and had been using stacked clothes to deceive people into thinking they were breasts.

The suspect confessed to impersonating a woman in order to get money from the Imam, and will be charged with theft, obtaining goods by false pretence, and impersonation.

Mr. Mutumba, the Imam, had met the suspect at the mosque where he had gone for prayers, and had fallen in love with her, not knowing that she was actually a man.
