JKUAT Deputy Vice-Chancellors Interviews Set to Begin

On January 14, 2020, the Public Service Commission (PSC) will conduct interviews for deputy Vice-Chancellors' positions at Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology.

According to the PSC, a total of 10 candidates have been shortlisted for the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), while 11 candidates have been shortlisted for the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs).

Among the shortlisted candidates for the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) is Prof Bernard Ikua, who has been holding the position in an acting capacity since last year. Other candidates include Prof Egara Kabaji, Prof Sammy Marwa, Prof Collins Miruka, Prof Julius Maiyo, Prof Hellen Kutima, Prof Jackson Kioko, Prof Joseph Mungai, Prof Joseph Kiplangat, and Prof Kiare Mwaura.

For the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs), the current acting boss, Prof Robert Kinyua, is among the 11 candidates who will be vying for the position. The other candidates include Prof David Mulati, Prof Mathew Ngugi, Prof George Ouma, Prof Jane Catherine Ngila, Prof Livingstone M. H. Ngoo, Prof Gerald Muthakia, Prof Hellen Kutima, Prof Daniel Auka, Prof Godfrey W. Netondo, and Prof Peter Kisinyo.

The candidates will be required to submit clearance from statutory bodies such as the Higher Education Loans Board (Helb), the Kenya Revenue Authority, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

The PSC has been working around the clock to recruit university administrators after the function was taken away from University Councils following an amendment to the Universities Act 2012.
