On January 14, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta issued over 2,000 title deeds to residents at the Rift Valley Regional Headquarters Grounds in Nakuru, an event that was marred by controversy.

Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria and Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, who are allied to Deputy President William Ruto, arrived at the venue but were blocked by General Service Unit (GSU) officers.

The officers, citing orders 'from above,' denied the politicians access to the event, sparking a heated exchange between the leaders and the GSU officers.

Speaking to the Nation, Senator Kihika expressed shock and disappointment at the turn of events, saying, "I am utterly shocked. Why would I be barred from a function being graced by my President at my home county?"

The two politicians have since vowed to give a press statement over the matter.
